Merchants appreciate this app for its customization options, reliable performance, and attentive customer service. They value its data storage and export features, as well as its smooth migration process. Some merchants find the back-end subscription management and customer dashboard setup confusing. The pricing may be steep for smaller businesses. However, its scalability, functionality, reporting capabilities, and revenue-driving potential are highly regarded. Interface is clunky (can't easily find where to do things like modifying outgoing email copy) and uses difficult-to-understand language, especially in the updates section of customer accounts. We lost two subscriptions because they were put through as one-time purchases yet Recharge couldn’t explain why. The add-ons section looks unrefined and is difficult for customers to comprehend (a time-consuming process for the few who do) so we lose out on add-on purchases. Now, we’re trying to achieve the ‘simple’ task of updating our email address: not only have we gone back-and-forth with Recharge for over a week, now we’re receiving error messages and customer emails are still going from our old email. Once our plan is up, we’re moving to a new app—also one that won't charge $99/month plus a transaction fee—even at the risk of losing current subscribers.

I had been using this app for almost two years for a monthly art pin subscription club.
Unfortunately the price hike makes this unusable for very small businesses. I can handle a % fee increase because it is scaled to the size of my business, but the new $99 per month flat fee kills this for small businesses and those just starting out. This new monthly fee represents a price hike of over 900% per month for me.
This might work for larger customers who can easily absorb a flat fee, but for little guys like myself and several others I have spoken to, this just doesn't work.
At least I have the rest of 2023 to migrate to another solution for my club.

Very long term user here but opening up about the experience so you guys can see the glaring problems as business owners. When the app works, it’s not too shabby and allows customization of shipments(eg. 30 days, 60 days, 90 days etc) which helps a lot. However, the big elephant in the room is the poor software itself and this app is now very dated while the company has become very complacent about what they have to offer. Read below:
The Recharge app is a hassle whenever you want to update your website. It breaks and suffers from compatibility issues. When we updated our website in 2021, the widget broke and since then we haven’t been able to have it integrated or work with our website. They also store all customer data on their side(which is why we were shy on pulling the plug on the app and had hoped that they would eventually have it working on our website) which means that you’re locked in with them unless you manually ask them for an export of the customers that are subscribed to your website through their widget.
Additionally, the recharge app continues to charge your card even when the app is in a broken state which is what continued to happen during 2023 when they had to move to Shopify Checkout integration.
Lastly, when it was brought up to their team that they were charging through this time and despite no services being rendered and failed integrations on out website, the team offered no refunds for this entire period of time. The contact from the company was more interested in nit picking what I had to say rather than trying to understand what I was saying, looking at the big picture, and helping constructively solve the problem.
We are all in business and understand that customers shouldn’t be charged for something that is broken and not functional for the consumer or end user. There are much better apps with easier integration that I’d recommend. This one’s a convoluted mess and as business owners, we want to focus on sales and marketing rather than never-ending app integration issues.
Suffice to say, at this point, Recharge isn’t a good app that we’d recommend to incorporate in your store.

If I could give you all a zero I would. they are purposely screwing over small and medium business. I just had a meeting with them and they told me that they do not want to work with small businesses and they are doing that by charging prices for their membership that they know business owners can't afford. They told me that they would rather have our small business work with yotpo instead. What business in their right mind would purposely send customers to other businesses? They are shady and a greedy company. I do not see them being able to survive if they keep screwing over small business owners.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. LOSING SUBSCRIBERS DAILY OVER THIS APP'S INABILITY TO PROCESS SUBSCRIPTIONS. LITERALLY THE ONE THING THEY WERE CREATED TO DO. I've been having issues since over two months, and all their support team says is that they are looking into the issue, they take days to answer emails and never provide a solution. Impossible to communicate over the phone and they don't answer when trying to escalate the issue. EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED

Customers can never update the subscriptions themselves and often email me stating they have tried so many times to change something and they give up. I will be changing to another system as soon as I possibly can!
Amazing app, sadly the money has gone to their heads.
We have used it for a little while now, but we received an email today outlining the new pricing we are being forced to pay as of next year. $99pmo. Unachievable for smaller businesses to stay afloat with that hefty price tag. Would have been a better move to shift things to a lower PMO amount and up the fees. We literally only use the app for its subscription functions, nothing else is used by us and we have to pay this massive price tag for features was have no interest in at all.
Daft.
Disappointed.
We will be finding a new app provider asap now so i no longer pay in to this money-hungry stupidity. Small businesses and large ones pay enough in apps as it is without this sort of hike.

We had a few problems with this app and only used it for subscriptions. It kept missing subscriptions, and then the customer thought they had cancelled, and then recharged them the following month so the customer did not know where they were coming or going!
Due to the advertised price hike of the standard price going up to $99 PER MONTH we can no longer afford to use the subscription service. We were paying between $15 and $25 per month depending on subscription numbers.
As subscription box margins are tight, we can no longer afford this service and will be looking elsewhere.

This is the absolute worst app I've ever tried, in 15+ years of operating multiple e-commerce stores. The interface is terrible, clunky and horribly unintuitive. Cancelling took 30+ minutes to figure out including having to reach out to a support rep. The rep was helpful. But then cancellation didn't work. Tried cancelling again MULTIPLE TIMES, to no avail. Now the worst part is now the coding is stuck on my product pages, making it impossible for people to purchase. WORST APP OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!! If I could rate negative stars, I would.
Customer support is does not meet our expectations... they will only do email... will not get on the phone with you, dance around the issue and rarely fix it. I end up having to add other apps or find work arounds to make my site work properly with the app
