Access options for custom data

Access options help you adjust what areas of your store can and can't use your custom data.

There are two types of access options available for your metafields and metaobjects:

1. Storefronts: allows you to use the metafield or metaobject for your Storefront in your Online Store 2.0 theme editor, through Liquid, with dynamic sources, or with Custom Storefronts and Hydrogen.

2. Automated collections: allows you to use the metafield to create automated collections.

How to activate and deactivate access options

Steps

1. In your Shopify Admin, go toSettings>Custom data.
2. Click the part of your store that has the metafield or metaobject you want to change the access options for.
3. Click the metafield or metaobject.
4. Depending on whether you are in a metafield or metaobject, do one of the following:
   1. In the metafield, select or deselect the following access options:
      • Storefronts.
      • Automated collections.
   2. In the metaobject, select eitherAccessibleorNot accessiblein theStorefront visibilitysection.
5. ClickSave.
