You can add notes or update customers for existing orders.

Add a note to an order
Order notes display on an order's details screen, and they're useful for attaching additional information about an order. You might want to attach a note to an order for the following reasons:
- You’ve refunded or canceled the order.
- You’ve done an exchange for all or part of the order.
- Your customer has some additional requirements that you want to record.
- From the Shopify POS app, tap the
≡
button and then tapOrders. - Tap an order to view its details screen and then tapAdd note.
- Enter your note and then tapSave.
The note displays on the order details screen. You can edit the note by tappingEditbesideORDER NOTES.
Add, delete, or change the customer for an order
You can adjust the customer information on a POS order.
To change the customer on an order, you need to delete the current customer and then add the correct customer.

Steps:
- From the Shopify POS app, tap the
≡
button and then tapOrders. - Tap an order to view its details screen.
- Adjust the order as needed by doing any of the following:
- Add a customer- First, delete any existing customer on the order, and then tap eitherAdd customerand search for an existing customer, orAdd new customerand fill in the contact information.
- Delete a customer- Swipe left on the customer's name, and then tapRemove.
- Edit a customer- Tap the customer's name, edit their details, and then tapSave.
Cancel an order
If an order can be canceled, then the cancel order button displays for up to 15 minutes after the order is placed. After 15 minutes, the transactions process and capture funds. Only orders in anAuthorizedstate can be canceled. Transaction fees don't apply to canceled orders.
The following restrictions apply to canceling orders:
- Canceling orders isn't available in Canada or Australia
- Split payment orders can't be canceled
- Orders that use the following payment methods can't be canceled:
- gift cards
- cash
- Interac
- eftpos
Steps:
- You can cancel an order from the checkout or from theOrdersscreen:
- From the checkout, tapCancel order.
- From the home screen of the Shopify POS app, tapOrders, tap the order you want to cancel, and then tapCancel.
- Optional: If you don't want to return an item to your inventory, then tap the button toRestock all items at this location, and then tapDon't restock.
- TapNext.
- Select a reason for canceling the order.
- TapConfirm and process. If you have manager approval activated and aren't the manager, then the manager must enter a PIN and then tap the arrow button to confirm the cancelation.
- TapDone.
