Now that you’ve gone through general settings to set-up your store, it’s time to look at these important legal settings:

Create a refund, privacy, terms of service, and shipping policy
Learn why these policies are important and what to include in each
Learn to link policies to your navigation menu

Hi, Max here and I'm the Shopify LA community manager. Legal policies may sound daunting but they don't have to be. I'm here to help. In this tutorial you'll learn why having legal policies is important, how to create them and how to link them to your site. Having policies easily accessible on your website is helpful in minimizing future customer support inquiries because they provide answers to come questions.

The refund and shipping policies can also help in converting new visitors into paying customers. To get started you'll go to settings and then legal. Refund, privacy and terms of service policies can be created by using the template feature. Be sure to make any additional necessary changes. Shipping policies vary broadly between businesses, so use the space to create a custom policy that fits your business's needs.

So what should you include? The refund policy is a great section to include what is returnable, the allotted timeframe, how funds will be returned and any necessary instructions. The shipping policy should include where you ship to, carrier and services that are used, shipping timeframe and any applicable disclaimers. For example, if you ship internationally and your customers are responsible for duties and taxes.

Now that you've created your policies, let's go over how to link them in your store. Policies will automatically link to the checkout footer. However, to make it easily accessible to your site visitors, you can link them to your footer menu by going to online store, navigation and menu. In the link section, select policies and the policy that you'd like to link. And this is how it looks on the store until next time.
