Customizing payment methods and delivery options at checkout
To customize how payment methods and delivery options display to your customers at checkout, stores on the Basic Shopify plan or higher can install and configure acheckout app, and then select the customizations to use at checkout.
App developers and Shopify Partners can create public or custom apps withpayment customizationsanddelivery customizations. Depending on the apps that you install, you can hide, reorder, and rename payment methods and delivery options of your checkout.

App availability
Some apps that customize or extend the checkout are available to businesses who subscribe to the Basic Shopify plan or higher. Available apps won't require the use of thecheckout editor, which is a Plus-only checkout extensibility feature.

Adding a payment method customization
If you want to customize your payment methods at checkout, then you need to install a third-party app that supports payment method customizations, and then configure your customizations.
Step 1: Install a payment method customization app
You can install multiple checkout customization apps that provide different customization options.
Steps:
- Go to theShopify App Store, and search for the payment methods app that suits your business.
- ClickAdd app.
- ClickInstall app.
Step 2: Configure and activate your customizations
After you install a payment method customization app, you can configure and activate your customizations.
Steps:
- From your Shopify admin, go toSettings>Payments.
- In thePayment customizationssection, clickManage.
- Add your customization:
- ClickAdd customization.
- Select a customization.
- Configure the customization, and then clickSave.
- Optional: If you want to add more customizations, then clickAdd customization.
- Select the customizations that you want to use.
- ClickActivate.
Adding a delivery customization
If you want to customize your delivery options at checkout, then you need to install a third-party app that supports delivery customization, and then configure your customizations.
Step 1: Install a delivery customization app

- Select a customization.
- Configure the customization, and then clickSave.
- Optional: If you want to add more customizations, then clickAdd customization.
- Select the customizations that you want to use.
- ClickActivate.
Adding cart and checkout validation
If you want to validate information about a customers cart or checkout, then you need to install a third-party app that supportscart and checkout validations.
Apps that support cart and checkout validations can let you enforce rules at checkout such as limiting the quantity of a product that customer can purchase, or ensuring that customers fill out custom fields at checkout.
The cart and checkout validation API is available to use for only custom apps that are built as asingle-merchant installby a Shopify partner.
After you install a cart and checkout validation app, you can configure and activate your validation rules.
Steps:
- From your Shopify admin, go toSettings>Checkout.
- In theCheckoutsection, clickCheckout rules.
- Add your validation rule:
- ClickAdd rule.
- Select a validation rule to add.
- Optional: If you want to add more validation rules, then clickAdd rule.
- Optional: If you want to edit a validation rule, then for that rule, click...and then clickEdit rule.
- For the validation rule that you want to activate, click...and then clickActivate
