Wix offers limited analytics that enable merchants to gain some insight into their operations. PrestaShop doesn’t have a native analytics engine, severely limiting your visibility over your online store. Shopify gives you enhanced visibility and powerful analytics. You have 360-degree visibility over your online store with Shopify. You can easily see how much you’re selling, your inventory, and your traffic.
PrestaShop requires you to choose a hosting platform to get your ecommerce store up and running. Shopify and Wix do not require a hosting platform. Instead, both are self-hosted, meaning you don’t need a third-party hosting provider to deploy your website. However, Wix hosting is limited and gives you only a bare-bones presence. Shopify’s hosting does not have this problem. It scales with you and gives you more options and flexibility.
Wix and Shopify serve their purpose enough to let merchants build a simple online store. If you need to scale your operations, you’ll find yourself constrained to go beyond a certain point, especially if you want to deliver content to different channels and devices and enact omnichannel campaigns.
While Wix and PrestaShop handle the basics of both on-page and technical SEO, Shopify outperforms both platforms in the SEO department. It has superior search capabilities and mobile optimization. Wix and PrestaShop don’t even offer mobile responsiveness out of the box, giving Shopify an edge.
Shopify merchants love that they can talk with the support team via phone, chat, or email. This gives them the help they need when they need it. Support is available 24/7 to answer any questions you have. If you want to get started on your online store journey but don’t have the tools, Shopify’sContact pageis the place to start. Find the answers you need from the Shopify community or support team.
Wix, like Shopify, offers a native, customizable payment gateway. PrestaShop requires third-party payment gateways for you to be able to receive payments. Wix may have a native solution, but it charges you a monthly fee and is available only in a few countries. In contrast, Shop Pay is available in 50+ countries and in 10+ languages.
Shopify offers better uptime than Wix and PrestaShop. Shopify’s position as the go-to ecommerce platform provider makes it a solid option because it features enhanced uptime and solid performance internationally.

PrestaShop and Shopify are both ecommerce engines created to support online merchants with their operations, but PrestaShop can’t match Shopify’s capabilities when it comes to delivering ecommerce solutions. Having an ecommerce engine of its own, Wix isn’t as well suited as Shopify to support your ecommerce operations.
Being an open-source solution, PrestaShop is free to use. Still, the functionalities of the free option are too bare-bones to support growing ecommerce businesses. The paid add-ons you need to build a competitive store can end up costing you more than Shopify, whose price starts at$29.00 USD/month when paying yearly, or Wix, whose price starts at $17/month for the basic option. Wix’s most basic option also leaves you out in the open. To leverage advanced ecommerce options on Wix, you will need both third-party integrations and a more expensive plan.
While all three options offer SEO options, both Wix and PrestaShop leave you wanting for more, and to get that “more,” you need to install third-party plug-ins to optimize your online store beyond the basic meta tags and headers. On the other hand, Shopify provides you more significant SEO capabilities out of the box, so you can build an optimized store without plug-ins.
